WWE star the Ultimate Warrior, 54, who was just inducted
into the company's Hall of Fame and appeared on its flagship "Monday Night
Raw" TV show this week, has died in Arizona at age 54.
Warrior, who was born James Hellwig but had his name
legally changed to Warrior several years ago, collapsed while walking with his
wife outside an Arizona hotel. He was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead
Tuesday night.
"WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the
passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, the Ultimate
Warrior," WWE said in a statement.
"We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the
opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also
able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions
of fans.
"WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s
family, friends and fans."
Warrior is survived by his wife, Dana, and his two
daughters.
