Inter rejected the chance to bring Chelsea striker
Fernando Torres to San Siro on loan, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di
Marzio.
As rumours abound that Inter are attempting to sign
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, there are reports from Italy that the
Nerazzurri passed up the chance to sign him on loan.
According to the Daily Mail, Inter director Piero Ausilio
was at Stamford Bridge last night to watch Chelsea play Galatasaray.
The paper claims that Inter's transfer guru was there to
try and broker a deal for Torres despite having warned that the Spanish
international may be too expensive for Inter.
However, Sky Sport Italia journalist and renowned Italian
transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio is less convinced.
He claims that Inter were in fact offered the chance to
sign Torres on a loan deal but that people within the club didn't believe it
would be a sensible move.
"Torres was offered on loan to the Nerazzurri but
within Inter people weren't convinced by the deal and not just because of his
very high salary," Di Marzio writes on his blog.
Inter have also been linked with Chelsea midfielder John
Obi Mikel and Ausilio may have also been in London to continue talks for the
Nigerian.
