Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confessed that he
one day dreams of coaching the Italy national side.
Although he enjoyed a successful time with a number of
Italian club sides as well as Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain, ‘Carletto’ has
yet to take over the biggest job in calcio in the peninsula.
“I recall my first appearance with the national side with
Enzo Bearzot with pride as all of my international games,” he told Rai Sport.
“When it comes to coaching the Azzurri, all Italians have this dream and I am
no different, that dream also applies to me.
“How will Prandelli’s Italy do? I think that Brazil will
be the favourites given that they are at home for the World Cup but I think
there will be some surprises within the team.
“Who will that be? It could be [Marco] Verratti, even if
there are people of more experience in midfield or even [Ciro] Immobile or
[Mario] Balotelli.”
In a lengthy interview, he also revealed that when angry
with his players, “I can only speak in Italian!” and that he would make current
holders Bayern Munich favourites to retain their Champions League crown.
