Nigeria Professional Football League to kick off as planned

Wednesday, 26 February 2014

After a meeting between club chairmen and the League Management Company (LMC) on Tuesday, it was resolved that the league postponed from starting two weeks ago will kick-off as planned next week Friday, March 7, 2014.

There were fears that the league kick-off date would be postponed again after it was revealed that none of the clubs had been able to meet the N100million bond that was part of the requirements that the clubs were supposed to meet.

But after the meeting on Tuesday, the provision has been waived temporarily to ensure that the league starts as scheduled.

A source at the meeting told FCNaija that, “The meeting was peaceful as the clubs and the LMC fine-tuned the start off date.

“All the clubs agreed that they would abide by the decisions of the LMC while the league body promised to fine-tune the N100million bond issue so that it will be easy for the clubs,” the source added.
