The CEO of Rangers International FC of Enugu, Ozor Paul
Chibuzor, has advocated for the Glo Premier League to take on an abridged
format for the 2013/14 season.
Chibuzor told News Agency of Nigeria that such a move
will help organisers fast track the matches, following the late kick-off of the
league.
He further noted this could also avert potential delays
which might arise from the late release of funds for clubs in the subsequent
season.
"Apart from the late kick-off, 2015 is a year of
politics and most clubs are owned by the state governments," the former
Vasco da Gama player said.
"This is a time that government finds it difficult
to bring out money to run the clubs. We know that the players’ salaries are
enormous and bringing out the money in an electioneering year will be a big
challenge."
The LMC, after a meeting with clubs, fixed February 21 as
the kick-off date for the new season.
