Francesco Totti insists that Roma will not give up in the
title chase after beating Genoa 4-0 on Sunday, but admitted that Juventus are
currently a class apart in Serie A.
Totti scored the second goal of the game - his first at
the Olimpico since the derby last April - but he stressed that he was not too
worried as long as Roma kept on picking up wins.
"It was a long time since I'd scored in front of my
people, but the important thing - as I've always said - is the three points.
And such a high class performance by the whole team is even more
important", he told Sky Sport.
"[Juventus] are in a league of their own at the
moment, they are the current champions and are showing their quality. But they
have a strong Roma behind them who won't give up, and we will keep giving them
a hard time right until the end".
Totti believes that the demons of last weekend's game
against Juventus can now be laid to rest after such an impressive performance,
before he paid tribute to Alessandro Florenzi for his spectacular bicycle kick
that opened the scoring.
"I think it's normal that when you win 4-0 in a
league game, you can put everything to one side. Having played such an
intelligent game and with such a spirit of sacrifice, we will be having our say
until the end.
"[Florenzi?] I think if I scored a goal like that,
I'd retire straight away! Congratulations to Alessandro, who has scored truly
one of the most beautiful goals in Serie A".
