Players dropped from Nigeria Super Eagles squad
The technical crew of Nigeria's Super Eagles have dropped
two players from camp, while four others have been called up in their place.
The affected duo, who were dropped for low productivity,
are midfielder Mohammed Ajia of Bayelsa United and El Kanemi Warriors of Borno
defender, Reuben Ogbonnaya.
Daniel Amokachi who spoke on behalf of the technical crew
stated that the team has little time to prepare hence the need to quickly
identify the tournament materials amongst the pack.
The team has however been bolstered by the addition of
four fresh legs, most prominent of which is newly signed Enyimba striker Mfon
Udoh who scored 15 goals from open play for Akwa United last season.
The others are Ewenike Achibi of Warri Wolves and Bendel
Insurance duo of Obannu Erhune (central defender) and his teammate, Ikeleji
Bello, who is central defensive midfielder.
"We have been tracking these players for some times
now and we want to give them a chance to prove themselves at a critical point
like this and we hope they won’t disappoint," Amokachi said of the new invitees.
More players who do not measure up to the expected
standards are expected to be purged out of the team after Wednesday's friendly
game against Niger Tornadoes.
