The Juventus legend only arrived at the Stade Francois
Coty during the summer but he has been sent packing after a run of four
successive defeats
Fabrizio Ravanelli revealed after Saturday's 3-1 defeat
at home to Valenciennes that he had been sacked as Ajaccio coach.
The former Italy international only took charge of the
Ligue 1 outfit last June but has paid the price for a dreadful start to the
season that has left L'ours second from bottom.
"It was my last game," Ravanelli announced
after the loss to Valenciennes. "The club have sacked me.
"Unfortunately, the president (Alain Orsoni) has
made the decision. I still want to thank him and the club and the
supporters."
Orsoni, for his part, explained that he had been
reluctant to part company with Ravanelli, but felt that he had no option after
a run of four successive defeats.
"This was not an easy decision for many
reasons," the Ajaccio supremo stated. "First, because I enjoyed
Fabrizio as a man.
"There will be a press conference scheduled for
Monday. There will be an interim and then a (full-time) coach."
Up next for Ajaccio is a trip to Toulouse on Saturday.
