In an effort to limit Mario Balotelli's troubles off the
pitch, Milan have assigned former police officer and current head of security
for the club Filippo Ferri to serve as the 23-year-old's "tutor."
Ferri was reportedly assigned to Balotelli with the consent of his agent, Mino
Raiola, and will be tasked with ensuring Mario stays away from any new
controversies that could hurt himself or the club.
Though Ferri is being charged with helping to keep
Balotelli in line, it should be noted that he's no saint himself. From ESPN:
Ferri, who was prohibited from official police activity
for his part in heavy-handed treatment of protesters at the G8 summit in Genoa
in 2001, already works as a security advisor for the Rossoneri and is therefore
well-known within the club.
This might be the premise for a new Odd Couple movie.
When asked about the new setup, former Inter manager Jose
Mourinho, who clashed with Balotelli in their time together, said, "Mario
is a great guy, I don't know what [Ferri's] specific tasks will be, but
certainly with a lunatic like him you never get bored."
