Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani confirms “it will
be very difficult” for Mario Balotelli and Christian Abbiati to face Barcelona.
Balotelli returned from international duty with a thigh
problem and there are reports he could be out for up to three weeks, while
Abbiati has a calf strain.
“I have total faith in Professor Enrico Castellacci, so
if Italy allowed him to play then they must’ve been convinced he was fit,”
Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.
“From what our staff tell us, it will be very difficult
for Balotelli and Abbiati to recover in time for Barcelona on Tuesday.
“People say we have multiple muscular injuries, but that’s
not true. Only Balotelli and Abbiati are muscular, but most others were
fractures and knee operations.”
Galliani reiterated Massimiliano Allegri is safe
regardless of tonight’s result against Udinese. Click here for the line-ups.
“Allegri’s bench is absolutely solid. Now we’ll see how
many points we pick up tonight, but either way it is only Week 8 and there’s no
need to panic.
“Admittedly 13 goals conceded are a great deal. We need
to be more attentive in defence. I don’t know whether the problem is tactical,
but most of the time I tend to see distractions.
“Adil Rami will arrive in January and is a very good
defender, but we’re not clinging to him. We had a very strong defence in the
last six months of last term.”
The Vice-President insisted Milan had no need to make
public the punishment for Balotelli and Philippe Mexes receiving three-match
bans.
“Balotelli was given a severe punishment, but we don’t go
around telling people what it was. He was given a very heavy fine, I can assure
you, as was Mexes.”
