Arsenal are poised to take Juventus striker Fernando Llorente on loan in January for the rest of the 2013-14 season in an attempt to bolster their chances of bagging some long overdue silverware.
The current Barclays Premier League leaders are woefully
short of firepower in their squad and hope to bring the 28 year old Spaniard on
board to solve that problem on a temporary basis.
Llorente joined Juventus this summer on a free transfer
from Athletic Bilbao, but has failed to establish himself as a first team
regular as the Old Lady of Turin also brought in Carlos Tevez, with the
Argentine taking considerably less time to settle into his new surroundings.
Llorente is desperate to play football on a regular basis
to get back into the Spanish national squad ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup
and is believed to be open to the idea of a temporary move to London to get
some more playing time under his belt at a top club.
Arsenal have reportedly monitored the striker quite
extensively and are keen to wrap up a move as soon as the winter transfer
window opens in January.
