Everton 1-0 Chelsea: Naismith nods Toffees to victory

Roberto Martinez's men put in a superb defensive display to overcome Jose Mourinho's side at Goodison park, with the visitors missing a host of gilt-edged chances throughout

Steven Naismith headed in on the stroke of half-time to hand Everton a valuable 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The Scotland international rose to nod in Nikica Jelavic's nodded cut-back from the byline from two yards for the only goal of an entertaining encounter in which the visitors missed a number of chances.



Samuel Eto'o was handed his first start by Jose Mourinho but failed to capitalise as Tim Howard and his defence performed superbly to keep the Premier League favourites out, emphasising Chelsea's high-profile failure to land Wayne Rooney in the summer transfer window.
