Mark Aber reportedly tweeted "Lovely bit of 14-1
Mesut" and the North London side have confirmed that an investigation has
been launched.
Arsenal have launched an investigation into whether academy
coach Mark Arber bet on the signing of Mesut Ozil .
Arber reportedly wrote a tweet on his personal account,
@1Arbs, that suggested he'd put money on the German international arriving at
the Emirates earlier this week, saying: "Lovely bit of 14-1 Mesut."
The Barclays Premier League club have now confirmed it
will be looking into whether there has been a potential breach of gambling
rules.
"We take this very seriously," a spokesman
said.
"All Arsenal employees and workers are well aware of
their responsibilities in this respect and we are looking into this as a matter
of urgency."
Football Association rules state: "You are not
allowed to place a bet on a game or competition in which you have any
influence, either direct or indirect.
"The above includes all bets related to the
following: Any other events involving your club or other clubs playing in the
same league competition (such as next manager markets)."
