The 23-year-old was recommended to the club by team-mate
Marama Vahirua and is desperate to make the most of the opportunity
Tahiti international Steevy Chong Hue could be set for a
move to Europe after being handed a trial by Ligue 1 side FC Lorient.
The 23-year-old, who played a prominent role in the
island nation's recent Confederations Cup campaign, currently plies his trade
with AS Dragon in his homeland.
But he has now been put forward for a trial in France by
Tahiti's most successful footballing export, retired former Lorient forward
Marama Vahirua.
"I’ve explained to him that in a few months he could
become a complete pro, a pro with a big future despite his age," Vahirua
told Fifa.com.
"He’s going to train with Lorient and that’s how
[coach Christian] Gourcuff can see if he is at the level or not."
Chong Hue, who has bagged 10 goals in 25 appearances for
his country, expressed gratitude to Vahirua for the recommendation and the
striker insists he will make the most of the opportunity.
"It is all thanks to Marama," he said.
"I’m not going just to say I’ve gone and that’s it.
I want to succeed. I’ve waited for this opportunity and I’m ready to go right
to the end."
