Real Madrid are known to dole out vast amounts of cash
but still the outlay that they are ready to provide Tottenham Hotspur for the
services of Gareth Bale confounds human reasoning. But it seems that Tottenham
are not the only ones who are going to profit from the Bale saga as Cristiano
Ronaldo has reared his head into the situation yet again, demanding a pay rise
according to the Daily Mail.
The Portuguese captain has been linked with a move away
from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer with former club Manchester United and
French champions PSG the leading contenders for his signature.
However, the winger is ready now to commit himself to Los
Blancos on a new long-term deal provided the club meets his demands, which
include a pay hike to £320,000 a week, which is incidentally double of Bale’s
proposed salary should he move to Madrid. Ronaldo also wants the club’s
assurances that they will campaign for him for the World Player of the Year
awards more vigorously and that Real Madrid will give him a cut of the
commercial opportunities that have opened up because of him in markets like
Asia and America.
It will be interesting to see how Los Blancos respond to
these ‘requests’.
