PSG demand more money in Nike deal

Paris Saint-Germain want to vastly increase the terms of their deal with kit manufacturer Nike, Le Parisien has reported.

On Friday, the paper said the two parties were in talks over a new contract to replace the current agreement, which expires next year.

PSG have been linked with Nike since 1989, and the Ligue 1 champions currently earn a reported €6.5 million per year from the kit supplier. They are looking for between €20m and €30m in a new deal.

Nike, also committed to a €40m-a-year agreement to supply the France national team, are said to be reluctant to meet those demands.

But the paper said PSG feel they should be capable of bringing in at least as much from their kit suppliers as Arsenal, who recently signed a deal worth £30m a season with Puma.

The French giants' owners, Qatar Sports Investments, could have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Burrda Sport, a sportswear company they also own.

In the spring, PSG announced a five-season shirt sponsorship deal with the Emirates airline.

They have been looking for ways to further increase their revenue as they seek to comply with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules. This summer, they have spent €114m to bring Edinson Cavani, Marquinhos and Lucas Digne to the French capital.

They have also handed captain Thiago Silva improved terms to stay at the Parc des Princes in the face of interest from Barcelona, and it has been suggested that striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is seeking an increase on his €14m-per-year deal.
