All summer Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo have been
banging on about the possibility of Barcelona signing Chelsea defender David
Luiz, and this Monday sees the story again dominate their front page.
In a headline which doesn’t require Chelsea fans to speak
Spanish, Mundo Deportivo claim that Barcelona have drawn a line in the sand,
refusing to spend more than €35m for the Brazilian centre-half.
Chelsea supporters may be inclined to react jog on then.
According to the paper Luiz wants to depart Chelsea for
the Nou Camp, leaving the only sticking point as the transfer fee. Chelsea are
seeking €50m, while Barcelona reportedly lodged a €25m offer last week which
was rebuffed by the Pensioners.
Mundo Deportivo now suggest that the clubs could meet in
the middle, with Barcelona open to upping their bid to a maximum €30m plus
another €5m in add-ons.
