Aly Cissokho has agreed personal terms with Liverpool
Cissokho has confirmed that personal terms with Liverpool
have been agreed but the clubs are still negotiating the nature of the deal
that would send the French international to Anfield.
Speaking to Le10Sport, Cissokho said: "Liverpool
came to me and it’s true that I have agreed to join them. Now it's down to the
clubs to decide a transfer deal."
Valencia want Aly Cissokho to join Liverpool on a
permanent deal
Liverpool came to me and it’s true that I have agreed to
join them. Now it's down to the clubs to decide a transfer deal.
Aly Cissokho
Rumours has suggested that Liverpool had agreed to pay
Valencia €1m (£870,000) for a year-long loan with the option to make the deal
permanent at the end of the season for a further €4m (£3.5m).
But it seems that the clubs still have different
preferences when it comes to the exact structure of the deal.
Cissokho added: "Liverpool want a loan, while
Valencia prefer a permanent transfer."
And Cissokho revealed that despite a move seeming so
close, nothing is certain, and the deal could still collapse even at this late
stage.
He said: "We should know more this week. If nothing
happens in that time it will mean I am definitely not joining Liverpool."
Aly Cissokho will provide competition for Jose Enrique
Cissokho also suggested he would not be averse to return
to Valencia if a transfer can not be agreed.
He added: "If I do not go it will not be a problem.
I am also happy at Valencia."
Liverpool are set to beat Sunderland to the signing of
the 25-year-old as they seek to add competition for Jose Enrique at the
left-back spot.
The club were thought to have been very close to agreeing
a loan deal for Benfica's Lorenzo Melgarejo, only for a deal to stall over
concerns about a work permit for the Paraguayan, and have also been linked with
a move for Everton target Guilherme Siqueira.
