The transfer happenings at Liverpool this summer have
intrigued the Football Transfer Tavern and boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed
the club are making moves to add new players to the squad, as reported by Sky
Sports.
The former Swansea City boss has had most of his
attention taken up by Luis Suarez who had made his feelings to depart Anfield
rather public.
The Reds will not want to make many changes to the squad
before the Suarez dilemma is sorted as the Uruguayan is a key member of the
side.
Rodgers confirmed that the lack of European football has
tied his hands somewhat but is hoping to make at least two more signings this
summer.
“Nothing is close but plenty of work is going on,”
Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo.
“How near or far we are, I will find out in Melbourne.
“There is daily dialogue going on but I am confident that
we will get the one or two players who will really excite and complete the
jigsaw.
“It was great to make the four signings so early on but
we have still got some more work to do to strengthen the team.
“If you are not in the Champions League, that naturally
makes it tougher.”
