Carlo Ancelotti says that there won’t be any problems
regarding the extension of Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, reports talkSPORT.
“Everyone knows that Cristiano Ronaldo is a superstar and
a great player,” said the new Real Madrid manager.
“The most important thing for the club is that a player
of his quality shows the utmost professionalism. That is good, especially for
the young players who can see a world-class player working with that attitude.
“I am not responsible for the renewal of his contract,
but it won’t be a problem, ” added the 54-year-old Italian.
Ronaldo has been linked with either a move to former club
Manchester United, or a transfer to huge-spending PSG, but it seems implausible
that the La Liga runners-up would want to sell the player.
The 28-year-old Portuguese flyer has scored an incredible
201 times in 199 matches for Los Blancos, and still has at least three years
left at the pinnacle of his game.
Although PSG could quite easily make Ronaldo the highest
paid player in world football, a move to the French league would not appeal to
someone regarded by some as the best footballer on the planet. The Parisian
club have already snapped up Edinson Cavani and Marquinhos from the Italian
league this summer, but have so far showed less of an ability to lure the
Premier league and La Liga elite to France.
Even for a ludicrous transfer sum, (which PSG are more
than capable of paying) it seems pointless for Real Madrid to even consider
selling Ronaldo, as there is no-one in world football capable of replacing his
goals, except the ‘untransferable’ Lionel Messi.
They will need them even more next season after La Liga
rivals beat them to the signing of Brazilian prodigy Neymar.
A romantic return to United may have been more possible
if Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge. Instead, David Moyes could try to
lure Gareth Bale to Old Trafford this summer, but Spurs have insisted he is not
for sale at any price.
