Jack Wilshere has told the Sun that the signing of Wayne
Rooney from Manchester United could help Arsenal towards a serious title
challenge.
The Gunners made Yaya Sanogo their first signing of the
transfer window last night, and the England forward could be next in a long
line of summer acquisitions.
Ambition
Rooney, according to former United boss Sir Alex
Ferguson, declared a desire to leave the champions after 9 years at Old
Trafford.
Although David Moyes is set to hold talks with his new
charge, it appears that England’s fifth highest scorer will move to pastures
new.
Arsenal are not the only interested party, with Chelsea
and PSG also circling.
And fellow England star Wilshere would be delighted to
see Rooney at the Emirates next season.
“If it happens, it would be amazing.” Wilshere said.
“Just to see his name in the team brings fear to the
opposition. We could do with more of that.”
Acquisitions
France Under 21 striker Sanogo joined the Gunners from
Auxerre on Monday night and signed a long term deal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger welcomed the move, stating
“He’s a good signing. He has shown he has potential with his recent
performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side.”
Wenger has a large war chest to spend on building a side
able to challenge for trophies this season.
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Everton
midfielder Marouane Fellaini have been strongly linked with the club.
