Arsenal have been touted to spend big in this transfer
window and although some of the proposed transfer moves seemed to have hit a
snag recently, recent reports suggest that the Gunners may have made a
breakthrough in landing a big name signing.
According to the Daily Express, the Gunners have beaten
the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham to the signature of Atletico Mineiro player
Bernard. The 20-year old is believed to have been snapped up for a whopping
£21.5m. A Brazilian reporter was even quoted by the aforementioned daily as
saying, “Atletico Mineiro’s Bernard is going to join Arsenal.”Continue after the cut...
Although the youngster lacks experience, there could be
no better place than Arsenal for him to realise his potential. This signing
will also give the Gunners’ fans a major boost, since the player was in great
demand and was wanted by some of Arsenal’s domestic rivals.
Even if this signing does go through, it would still not
put an end to Arsenal’s spending spree and the Gunners can be expected to flex
more muscle in the coming weeks, with names such as Luis Suarez and Marouane
Fellaini being touted as potential targets. The Gunners just about sealed a top
four berth last term and these kind of signings will ensure that they remain a
step ahead of their rivals
