Super Eagles left-back Elderson Echiejile has expressed
optimism that the team will give their all against World and European champions
Spain, in their last group B match at the FIFA Confederations Cup,
Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Eagles lost
their second game against Commebol champions Uruguay 2-1 and will have to beat
Spain and hope the result between Tahiti and Uruguay favours them.
Diego Lugano put
Uruguay in front off an assist from Diego Forlan. But the Eagles restored
parity thanks to Mikel Obi’s left-footed curler which beat the keeper. But a
quick counter-attack from the South Americans was finished off by former
Manchester United and Inter Milan striker Diego Forlan to restore lead for
Uruguay.
Reacting to the
2-1 defeat against Uruguay on his twitter handle, the SC Braga defender said:
“Despite the loss
to Uruguay, we remain upbeat going into the game against Spain. We will go all
out and fight,” Echiejile assured.
