Numerous fans and well-wishers swarm a restaurant where
Beyonce and husband have dinner with their mothers, causing authorities to
secure the area.
Beyonce Knowles and husband Jay-Z spent their fifth
wedding anniversary in Havana, Cuba. On Wednesday night, April 3, the couple
had dinner in an exclusive restaurant La Guarida. Law enforcement officers had
to be called to secure the area because fans and well-wishers swarmed the
restaurant to see a glimpse of their favorite celebrities.
La Guardia's employee told Associated Press that Beyonce
and Jay-Z had Cuban dish, such as fish, chicken, black beans and rice. The
couple's mothers also joined them. According to waitress Silvia Fernandez,
Beyonce took a tour in the restaurant and saw pictures of previous celebrities
who dined in La Guardia, including Jack Nicholson, Jodie Foster, Danny Glover,
Will Smith and James Belushi.
The next day, the pair went to Old Havana. The
"Halo" singer, who wore a yellow summer dress, took pictures with children.
Jay-Z, who donned a shirt, gray pants and a hat, enjoyed a Cuban cigar. The
couple also had conversations with local people, but they refused to answer
reporters who asked about their visiting purpose.
U.S. government, which is doing embargo to Cuba, has been
prohibiting citizens to go to the country merely for tourism purpose. People
who go to Cuba usually cite reasons such as education, religion, journalistic
or cultural exchange. So far, there is no word from Beyonce's agency, while
U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control does not comment on
individual case.
