London's Cirque du Soir where Justin Bieber celebrated
his 19th birthday broke silence after he tweeted "worst birthday."
Rumor has it, the singer was furious after his friend Jaden Smith was denied
entry due to his young age. A spokesman for the club confirmed they were forced
to turn away some of his guests due to age policy.
"We, like all clubs in London, operate a strict age
policy," Cirque's representative explained to E! News. "As a few of
the members of the party were under the suitable age of 18, the security team
at Cirque Du Soir, London, clearly explained this rule and refused entry to the
club for anyone who could not provide us with adequate proof of age."
Insisting they didn't mean to cause the popstar any
inconvenience, the spokesman added in a statement, "Justin Bieber visits
Cirque Du Soir regularly, and he and his friends are always welcome, as long
the members of the group are legally old enough to enter the club. This was
simply a matter of regulation that we must adhere to."
"We are very sorry, and understand it's his
birthday, but our hands are tied with local authorities and rules we need to
follow as club to keep our license. We clearly didn't want to give him the
'worst birthday.' He is a friend and previously was always welcomed with open
arms," the spokesperson concluded.
The Cirque prepared for a circus-themed party with
waiters wearing "Happy Birthday Justin" t-shirts for his turning age.
The former boyfriend of Selena Gomez booked a private area and had around
$12,000 budget to spend for the night. He was reportedly joined by his rumored
new girlfriend, British singer/model Ella-Paige Roberts Clarke.
"Gonna be fun tonight," the birthday boy
tweeted earlier on March 1 before the debacle. "Thanks to everyone for all
the birthday wishes. 19!" After the confrontation with the club's security
guards, he stormed out of his own party and headed back to his hotel.
On Saturday, he took to Twitter to thank fans for their
support and well wishes. "I see and saw all the posts from around the
world," he wrote. "U got me smiling. Love u. Thank u." He also
re-tweeted his manager Scooter Braun's message, "Life is a roller coaster.
Just know when u dip low it is only to build excitement as u will fly high
again. Enjoy the journey."
While the two were vague about what made the night turn
sour, some members in Bieber's team offered explanation about his foul mood.
Mentioning nothing about Jaden debacle, they blamed paparazzi for ruining his
day. His friend Ryan Butler tweeted, "This is unbelievable. Can't even
have fun on his birthday. Paparazzi are absolute d**kheads here."
Alfredo Flores added, "I mean… I have no words.
Paparazzi are disgusting. Wont even allow a 19 year old enjoy his birthday.
Hurting fans? Makes no sense #ashame." He followed it up later, "I'm
disgusted. I remember this day all to well 2 years ago in LA. It just won’t
ever quit. Wish he could just have a few hours…"
