Conte bemused by Juventus capitulation

Sunday, 20 October 2013

Juventus coach Antonio Conte was left gutted by his team's self-destruction as they let a two-goal lead slip to lose 4-2 at Fiorentina.

The Serie A champions went into Sunday's match unbeaten against Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi since 1998 and that run looked like it would continue as they went into half-time two goals up.

Carlos Tevez opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Paul Pogba pounced on a Juan Cuadrado error, but it was a completely different story after the break, with Giuseppe Rossi's own spot-kick sparking the comeback.

Paul Pogba nodded in a controversial winner in the second half, with the Frenchman reacting first to a rebound after Tevez had headed against the crossbar when in a clear offside position.

The 35-year-old entrepreneur is just one of a number of Bianconeri followers to have been impressed not only by the Argentine's goals, but also his aggression.

However, Elkann remains wary of the threat posed by Torino, and their in-form forward Alessio Cerci in particular.

Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has admitted he had enjoyed the "perfect night" after scoring on his debut in the 1-0 win over Sampdoria in front of his former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini.

Director general Giuseppe Marotta claims the club are in the process of getting rid of two forwards who are deemed surplus to requirements

Juventus are close to selling two strikers as they look to remove "excess players" from their squad, according to club chief Giuseppe Marotta.
