The 35-year-old entrepreneur backed 'the Bull' to shine
at the Stadio Olimpico, whilst hitting out at racism which has become
synonymous with Serie A.
Lapo Elkann claims that Juventus striker Carlos Tevez
will be determining factor in Sunday's Turin Derby.
The 35-year-old entrepreneur is just one of a number of
Bianconeri followers to have been impressed not only by the Argentine's goals,
but also his aggression.
However, Elkann remains wary of the threat posed by
Torino, and their in-form forward Alessio Cerci in particular.
"Who will decide the derby? The bull, Tevez,"
the brother of FIAT chairman John Elkann told Tuttosport.
"In the Champions League, Juve has not started at
their best. But, as in life, it is wrong to make a judgement right at the
start.
"Over the past two years, the club has shown
strength and determination in every sector. They can go far this season.
"But beware of Cerci. Beyond the individual talent,
I have to say that the coach [Giampero Ventura] has done a good job
overall."
Meanwhile, Elkann then turned his attention to the
incidents of racism that have marred the opening rounds of the new Serie A season.
"Enough with racism," he pleaded. "Italian
football has become an adult: one has to be civil. Enough wasting time and
energy with this negativity.
"For the sake of Serie A, there needs to be
positivity, as we are losing competitiveness not only to the Liga, but also to
the Bundesliga, Premier League and even Ligue 1."
The Derby della Mole is scheduled to kick off at 12:30CET
on Sunday.
