LMC award Giwa walkover against Nembe City

Sunday, 1 June 2014

The League Management Company (LMC) has confirmed that Giwa FC have walked over Nembe City in Saturday's Week 17 game of the Glo Premier League.

Nembe City failed to honour the fixture after their team bus broke down on the road and delayed their arrival before kick-off.

Officials of the club pleaded with the LMC to move the game to Sunday, but their pleas were ignored as the match officials performed a walkover after the mandatory waiting period, with the hosts already lined up for the game.

Officials of the hosts team even put a call through to their Nembe counterparts, but the Bayelsa-based club were still at Lafia in Nasarawa State, which is at least three hours away from Jos.

Nembe’s Week 11 game away to Gombe United was shifted by a day as they were involved in an accident after their bus skidded off the road.

The club are yet to officially react to the current development.
