Glo PL wrap: Saturday Week 17

Saturday, 31 May 2014

Some Week 17 games of the Glo Premier League were played on Saturday across various centres, with Heartland’s win away from home, the pick of the bunch.

Only three games were slated to be played today as Heartland travelled to Benin to face Bayelsa United, Giwa FC hosted Nembe City in Jos while Dolphins FC entertained Lobi Stars in Port Harcort.

Bright Ejike scored twice for a resurgent Heartland side as they recorded a 2-4 away win over Bayelsa United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

In Port Harcourt, Ifeanyi Egwim scored a hattrick to help Dolphins FC record a 3-1 home win over visiting Lobi Stars.

The game between Giwa and Nembe did not however happen, as the visitors appealed to the League Management Company (LMC) for a 24-hour extension after their bus broke down on route to honoring the fixture.

The LMC has not however made any public statement regarding the fate of Nembe, but an official hinted to KickOffNigeria.com that the Bayelsa-based club may be walked over if their claims are not substantiated, as the LMC had earlier insisted that the game be played on Sunday.

Week 17 Results (Saturday):

Giwa FC – Nembe City (Not Played)
Dolphins 3-1 Lobi Stars
Bayelsa 2-4 Heartland FC
