Nigeria's coach Stephen Keshi has declared that he is
unfazed by criticism of his playing methods, selection and general decisions
regarding the national team.
Keshi told BBC Sport that as long as he continues to do
his job, he will remain unconcerned by criticism, as he does not expect everybody
to like him.
"This is life and not everybody is going to like
you," Keshi told BBC Sport.
"So who am I to worry about everybody loving or not
liking Stephen Keshi? I don't care as long as my family loves me, as long as I
am doing my job and I have good health - the rest is nothing.
"As long as I can put smile on somebody's face every
day, make them happy, that is all because I can say thank God."
When questioned on his job security, which became an
issue after the NFF were rumoured to be hunting for a foreign technical
assistant, the former coach of Togo declared that he is unafraid of getting
sacked, as it comes with the nature of the job.
"It happened in 2012 when Amodu Shaibu and I
qualified the country for the World Cup. It also happened in Togo. So if that's
it, so be it," Keshi said on the possibility of being sacked before the
World Cup.
"If people want to talk, I can't stop it. I don't
worry about speculation about my job, I don't worry about anything," he
added.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has on several
occasions denied reports of its purported plans to hire a 'foreign technical
assistant', attributing the reports to handiwork of mischief makers.
