Manchester United's dismal 3-0 defeat in the derby with
City proved too much for some fans to take - with even Sir Alex Ferguson
feeling the force of the frustration.
Edin Dzeko scored twice - the first after just 43 seconds
- and Yaya Toure grabbed a late third to send City surging up to second in the
Barclays Premier League, three points behind leaders Chelsea with two games in
hand.

Rio Ferdinand and Marouane Fellaini are left flat-footed as Edin Dzeko puts City two goals ahead |
And that sparked fury among United supporters, with some
near manager David Moyes having to be restrained by stewards and others
directing their anger at Ferguson, apparently for his role in appointing his
successor
It all made for particularly uncomfortable viewing for
under-fire Moyes, who watched much of the second-half with head in hands.
A spectator bounded down the steps from his seat in the
south stand to shout at Moyes and had to be restrained and escorted away by
security staff.
At the end of the match, stewards guarded to 'Chosen One'
banner hanging on upper tier of the Stretford End to prevent fans removing it.
Moyes had hoped United had turned the corner following
back-to-back victories against Olympiacos in the Champions League and West Ham
in the Premier League.
But their limitations were brutally exposed by City, with
the outcome of the match never looking in doubt.

Ferguson has watched suffer several times this season, including a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea |
Afterwards, Moyes was forced to concede that United were
a distant second best.
He said: 'We didn't start the game well. They were very
good but we grew into the game and up into the second goal we had a fighting
chance. But we weren't good enough in the end.
'I think we have played a very good side, playing at the
sort of level we are aspiring to. We need to come up a couple of levels
ourselves because at the moment we are not there.'
It could have been worse for Moyes with Marouane Fellaini
lucky not to be sent off for a blatant first-half elbow on Pablo Zabaleta. He
escaped with a booking.
City have now won five of their last six encounters with
United, including a 4-1 thrashing at the Etihad earlier this season.
Two-goal Dzeko was delighted with the win that makes City
red-hot favourites to win the title.

Stewards in fluorescent orange jackets watched the 'Chosen One' banner on the Stretford End at the final whistle to ensure nobody tore it down |
He said: 'Before this game we had three games less than
Chelsea and it was very important for us to win. We are only three points
behind with two games and this game could be crucial at the end of the season.'
City manager Manuel Pellegrini said: 'We scored three
goals and had three or four more good chances to score. I don't remember many
chances Manchester United had to score. We started for the three points from
the first minute.
'For me it's very important to keep our clean sheet. We
know we can score lots of goals. We were very compact and worked completely in
attacking and defending.
'It is important in the beginning of the season to have
the squad you need. We have to play so many matches, it is very important to
have so many strikers, but I am very happy about our defending. We are a very
balanced team at the moment.'
