Napoli planning double trouble for Arsenal

Sunday, 1 December 2013

During the summer transfer window, Arsenal fans were given good reason to start really disliking the Serie A side Napoli. The Italians were reported to be rivals for a number of Arsenal transfer targets, most notably the Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain who they did sign, while it looked for a while as if we would have just an unheard of young Frenchman on a free.

And despite may people still feeling that the Gunners need another quality striker, Giroud, Ramsey, Ozil and all have been working wonders, including the awesome demolition of Napoli at the Emirates. But despite Arsenal being much the better of the English sides in the competition, we could still go out, although it is highly unlikely.

But Rafa Benitez and his Napoli team will certainly try their best and even if they fail to beat Arsenal heavily enough, they could still force us to finish in second place and make the next stage much harder. Also, according to Talksport, the Italian club could be set to beat the Gunners to another signing, Maxime Gonalons.

The Lyon player was heavily linked with Arsenal this summer and Wenger is reported to be very keen on him, but his agent has revealed that they have been in talks with Napoli over a possible move. I don’t suppose this would be the end of the world though, especially if Arsenal get a point in Naples and top the group. Besides, Gonalons is not a striker, which is what Arsenal really need.
