Manchester City have been handed a boost in their pursuit
of Ajax goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer after he suggested he would leave the club
in January.
Man City have targeted a goalkeeper in the transfer
window following the loss of form of England number one Joe Hart.
Rumours a circulating that Hart may be allowed to leave
on-loan to regain his confidence, meaning Manuel Pellegrini will need to
provide competition for Costel Pantilimon.
Vermeer is not regularly starting at Ajax but is
considered a good stopper in the Dutch league and according to the Metro, Man
City will have the opportunity to bring him to the Etihad.
Pellegrini could get him for as little as £2million and
it seems the stopper is doing everything he can to force a move, telling the
club he wants to leave.
Ajax haven’t indicated whether they want to keep hold of
their man but may not have a choice if the player is adamant that he wants to
move on.
