The NPFL winners have bolstered their team with
intelligent and experienced players with the league season just around the
corner
Kano Pillars have completed the signing of five players
ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season for 2013/14.
Pillars said they base their squad on continuity but that
they have been able to look at areas that are weak that need strengthening
before the next season starts.
Sai Masu Gida picked two players from Heartland and
Enyimba respectively and another from Sunshine Stars. These players are
Kingsley Udoh, Abdul Haruna (who is on a second stint to Kano Pillars having
left the club in 2010 for Heartland after an impressive performance in the CAF
Champions League a year earlier), Eneji Otekpa, Nura Mohammed and Henry
Ezekiel.
The Media Officer of Pillars, Idris Malikawa told Goal
that the club took the track record and the current form of the players into
cognisance before approaching them for deals.
He predicted that Pillars would never make up the numbers
in the CAF Champions League insisting that they are in it to win it for the
first time.
Malikawa also hinted that Pillars would be taken the game
against the Super Eagles next Monday seriously because it will provide them
with an opportunity to test their players before their early February grudge
match with AS Vita of Congo.
"We are going to play against the Eagles with our
best players. We won't play them with ease at all. The five players we have
signed will help us to stabilise and assist our cause to have more than decent
run in the Champions League," Malikawa told Goal.
