Roma coach Rudi Garcia expressed his satisfaction with
his side’s win over Catania on Sunday afternoon, but felt that it was a tale of
two halves for them.
The Giallorossi cruised to a 4-0 comprehensive victory
over the last-placed Sicilian side to continue their unbeaten run and finish
out 2013 on a good note.
“We had a poor first half, but an excellent second half,”
he stated to Sky Sports following the match.
“Naturally, I’d like to see us play more like we did in
the second half going forward. We’ve earned 41 points so far, which normally is
enough to be in first place.
“But there will be a team that will win after Christmas
and we’d like to be in there as one of the challengers.”
The former Lille coach also reflected on talismanic
captain Francesco Totti, the side’s upcoming match with Juventus, and their
dealings in the upcoming transfer market.
“With Totti back, as well as Destro and Gervinho, I think
that games will be easier for us. As for Juventus, they have two very strong
teams to compete in the league and Europe, but we’ll figure out how to deal
with them.
“As for the market, we’ll have to wait and see. We’re
waiting on some injured players to come back and will have to decide whether or
not if we need to reinforce the squad. But for now, I just want to see what we
can do with what we have currently.”
