FC Bayern München received an early Christmas gift as
Bayer 04 Leverkusen lost at Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund came unstuck at
home against Hertha BSC Berlin.
Ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup final appearance,
leaders FC Bayern München received an early Christmas present from their main
Bundesliga rivals as Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund both lost.
Second-placed Leverkusen went down to 1-0 at SV Werder
Bremen, Santiago García scoring the only goal on 74 minutes, while Dortmund
lost a third successive home game, 2-1 against Hertha BSC Berlin.
When Sebastian Kehl picked out Marco Reus for his eighth
goal of the season, Jürgen Klopp's side looked to be on to a winner, but Adrian
Ramos and Sami Allagui struck before the break for the visitors, and Dortmund
failed to make the most of their chances after the break.
Ten-man Hamburger SV went down 3-2 at home against 1. FSV
Mainz 05, SC Freiburg edged out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 victory
against Hannover 96, and fellow strugglers TSV Eintracht Braunschweig also
earned their fourth win of the season, at home against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
