Spurs goalkeeper injured in collision with Everton's
Romelu Lukaku trains at Clairefontaine ahead of France's World Cup play-off
against Ukraine.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who was left out of Tottenham
Hotspur's Premier League match with Newcastle United at the weekend following a
head injury, trained with the France squad on Monday and should be available
for Friday’s World Cup play-off in Ukraine.
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas was advised by medical
staff not to play Lloris, who was knocked unconscious in a collision with
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku the previous week but controversially played on for the
final 12 minutes of the match. On Monday Lloris trained alone while his France
team-mates who were involved in the weekend’s action took part in light
exercise.
“Today, he’s having training because he did not play
[Sunday],” said France coach Didier Deschamps. “Tomorrow, he will take part in
the collective training. Tottenham have done what they thought was the right
thing to do, but he’s fine.”
