Real Madrid and Germany could be without Sami Khedira for
an extended period, with the midfielder taken to hospital for treatment after
suffering a knee injury during Friday's 1-1 draw in Italy.
Sami Khedira is helped off the field after colliding with
Italy's Andrea Pirlo.
Khedira collided with Italy's Andrea Pirlo in the 67th
minute and was carried off the pitch with a suspected knee problem.
• Lahm: Germany deserved more
Germany coach Joachim Low revealed the 26-year-old was
taken to hospital, signifying the extent of the injury.
He said: "The fact that he had to go to the hospital
is not good."
Khedira's team-mate Jerome Boateng admitted the incident
soured the mood for Germany after a strong performance in Milan, suggesting the
Madrid star is in a worse state than first thought.
"The atmosphere in the dressing room was sad,"
he said. "Not because of the draw but because it seems that Sami has been
injured severely."
