Roma are expected to battle Liverpool for Atletico Madrid
forward Adrian Lopez, as both teams could possibly look to secure his services
during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old’s current contract with the La Liga side
is set to expire in June 2015, but some reports claim that he’s ready to leave
the club as soon as possible.
According to Spanish sports paper AS, The Reds are
apparently the frontrunners in the race for the forward, though current Serie A
leaders Roma have been increasing their strong interest in the player since the
summer.
The Spaniard has been with Atletico Madrid since 2011
after joining from Deportivo La Coruna on a free transfer and has scored a
total of 22 goals in all competitions in his 114 appearances for the club thus
far.
Adrian had appeared with the Spanish youth international
teams since he was a teenager and now has one goal in his two caps with the
senior squad since making his debut with them in 2012.
