Manchester United are reportedly planning a January
transfer swoop to sign Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, with
an overall valuation of £53million.
After the shocking summer transfer window for Manchester
United, with multiple failed attempts to sign such players as Cesc Fabregas,
Leighton Baines, Fabio Coentrão and Ander Herrera, they are now planning to
strengthen up the squad during the January window, with Sami Khedira and Angel
Di Maria the latest to crop-up in the transfer rumour mill after Phil Neville
was spotted scouting during Real Madrid’s 7-3 victory over Sevilla.
Reports in both France (Le Sport) and Spain (Mundo
Deportivo) link the Real Madrid pairing with a move to Manchester United, with
Khedira being valued at £35million and Di Maria coming in at just under
£18million.
There is no doubt that David Moyes will be given a
transfer budget to spend during the January transfer window, top of the list
during the summer was Leighton Baines, no doubt that the club will return in
their pursuit of the England left-back with the likelihood of Patrice Evra
leaving at the end of the season.
United’s latest signing Marourane Fellaini is likely to
be on the sidelines for a lenghty period of time, after needing an operation on
his wrist which the club have delayed, likely to go ahead just before
Christmas. United target man Khedira has made no secret that he feels that Real
Madrid have treated him unfairly over the past few months, which hints to a
move away from La Liga.
Khedira recently said:
“I’m not a Spanish player, I did not cost a lot of money
and I am one of Mourinho’s disciples.
“I started the season on the bench or in the stands. Even
if I play well, I am the scapegoat and so will not be properly valued.”
