His words will strike fear in the hearts of defenders
across Spain as he says his partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo is blossoming.
Gareth Bale believes he can up his game even further as
he gets close to full fitness for the first time since his big-money move to
Real Madrid.
The highly-rated Welshman joined the Spanish giants from
Tottenham in the summer for a deal believed to be worth around £85million. The
north London side paid roughly £10million for him back in 2007.
Bale has made a steady if unspectacular start to life in
the Spanish capital, and he has now bagged three goals to go along with his
five assists in seven La Liga appearances so far.
And Bale believes the fans will soon see the very best of
him as he gets his fitness and match sharpness back.
"The best is yet to come," he told Real Madrid
TV. "I've just finished my pre-season and I can still give more.
"Now I'll be able to score more goals and help the
team achieve success.
"It was just a matter of time until I got to 100 per
cent. Now everyone is seeing what I can do. I need to keep working and
hopefully there will be more goals."
Although his performances are getting better, Bale admits
he is still some way off eclipsing the mercurial talents of former Manchester
United man Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal star's hat-trick against Real Sociedad at
the weekend takes his tally to 24 goals in just 17 games in all competitions,
and Bale revealed he is a big admirer of the 28-year-old.
"Cristiano is incredible, he scores hat-tricks every
week," he added. "It's a pleasure to play with him."
