Aaron Ramsey says that Arsenal have every chance of
taking the points at Borussia Dortmund when they play in the Champions League
this week.
The Gunners are flying high following a 2-0 win over
Liverpool and need at least a point against Dortmund to be certain of
progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Three clubs in the
group of death are on six points and a loss here for Arsenal would leave them
needing to beat Napoli and Marseille in final two group stage games. Arsenal
travel to Manchester United next in the Premier League and a win against
Dortmund would keep their early-season momentum going.
Ramsey has been a revelation so far in the league,
scoring six goals and assisting four. He capped his display against Liverpool
with a brilliant shot that flew past Liverpool's Simon Mignolet. The in-form
Welshman insists that they can carry their performance in the league to other
competitions and replicate their success against German opposition as they did
against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena last season.
"We don't go anywhere with fear. I thought we played
well enough to get something from the home game. Now the group is wide open
again. It is going to be tough, but we are still confident we can
qualify," Ramsey said.
"That was a great result against Bayern - a great
achievement. We have also been to Dortmund before, so we have experienced the
hostile atmosphere. We know what they are about. The atmosphere in their
stadium is tremendous, but you want to be playing in those sorts of
atmospheres," he added.
Ramsey's mistake in Arsenal's final third led to
Dortmund's goal in the opening leg and the midfielder is confident of putting
his mistakes behind him. He respects Dortmund's ability but believes that
Arsenal have the players to pull off an upset.
"They are a
very organised team and have a real work ethic. But I am sure that we have the
quality and the players to get a good result, and put ourselves back in control
of the group," he said.
