Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik believes that the
Azzurri’s last matche of the Champions League group stage will be decisive in
who qualifies for the next round.
The Partenopei were victorious over Olympique de
Marseille with a 2-1 result on Tuesday and now have six points in the Group F
standings, putting them in a three-way tie with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
Hamsik released a statement on his official website on
Wednesday and reflected on the Azzurri’s win over their French opponents, while
also commenting on his team’s last match against Arsenal at the San Paolo on
December 11.
“Last night, we showed that we can produce a top
performance,” said the 26-year-old.
“We deserved our win in Marseilles, especially as we
played well in the first half.
“Napoli had dictated the pace from the start. We had many
chances and it was important to take the lead before the break.
“Our opponents gave everything until the end and it
proved that Marseille have quality.
“There will be a battle for qualification. The last
matches will be most decisive.
“We’ll be hosting Arsenal and Dortmund will be playing
against Marseille.”
