Germany manager Joachim Low has expressed his surprise at
Real Madrid’s decision to let Mesut Ozil join Arsenal on transfer deadline day,
reports SkySports.
Ozil became an Arsenal player late on Monday evening
becoming the transfer windows marquee signing in a £42.3m deal, smashing the
Gunners’ previous club transfer record fee.
Andrey Arshavin held the previous record when he signed
from Zenit St Petersburg for 15m.
Incomprehensible
The Germany boss has explained how he found Madrid’s
decision to sell the 24-year-old incomprehensible.
“Many players like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo are
sad about the transfer,” SkySports reports him as saying.
“For me, it’s incomprehensible that Real Madrid would
sell on of their top scorers.”
The new Gunners recruit has joined up with the Germany
squad as they prepare for their double header with Austria and the Faroe
Islands and the Germany coach has expressed how to get the very best out of the
midfielder.
Trust
“I think that Mesut is a sensitive player who need a lot
of trust from the club and coach.” Low revealed.
“What I’ve heard the last few days before the transfer,
is that this trust had disappeared in Madrid.
“Arsenal and Wenger put a lot of effort in to get him,
which did him, of course, a lot of good.”
Not only has Arsene Wenger shown his trust with his
deadline day efforts, but also with the amount the Gunners are paying the
German.
Ozil signed a £140,000-a-week five-year deal with the
North London club, smashing the club’s wage structure as well as their record
fee.
