United have rebuffed two bids from Chelsea for Rooney,
who missed the 2-0 FA Community Shield win over Wigan with a shoulder injury.
David Moyes has repeatedly insisted Rooney is not for
sale, including after the Wembley win, and Vidic hopes the England forward will
still be at Old Trafford following the closure of the transfer window on
September 3.
"I believe Man United is the biggest club in the
world and I think there's no point to go anywhere (else)," Vidic said.
"There's so much speculation, so much talk about
whether he'll leave or stay. He's at the best club in the world.
"I have to say the last four years I was in that
position as well. People were talking about me leaving the club.
"I'm still here and I'm enjoying playing for this club.
Nothing has changed."
Rooney was reported to be unhappy after Moyes,
intentionally or not, suggested Robin van Persie was his number one strike
option.
Vidic believes Rooney and Van Persie, who scored both
goals at Wembley, can be a prolific partnership again this season for the
defending Barclays Premier League champions.
The Serbia defender added: "Definitely. No question
about that.
"They're both top forwards and so much rumours over
the years, players coming, players leaving. This is part of the show."
Former Everton boss Moyes has the challenging task of
succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson and Vidic welcomed the new boss' first silverware.
"It's a good start, to start with a trophy,"
Vidic said.
"It's good to feel from the first day how it is to
win a trophy with Man United. It's a great feeling.
"I remember the first time I lifted a trophy with
Man United. I was really excited.
"We're looking forward to this season. We always
want to improve, we always want to win trophies.
"This year people question us even more, because Sir
Alex left.
"We know how good he is and how many trophies he won
for the club but we want to prove we can win the trophies again.
"Big games are coming and we have to be ready and
work hard to achieve what we want to and that's to win more trophies."
