With the summer transfer window in full swing, there is
plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you
up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Luis
Suarez.
Luis Suarez’ agent is ready to present legal documents to
Liverpool to try and prove they have a case in their dispute over the strikers
release clause with fresh talks pencilled in for Friday, according to the
Mirror.
The Uruguayan is at odds with Liverpool over a supposed
clause in the players contract that Suarez claims entitles him to leave if any
club in the Champions League tables an offer in excess of £40m. The Reds are
adamant this is not the case and have rejected a £40,000,001 offer from Arsenal
with owner John W Henry saying last week selling to the Gunners would be
‘ludicrous’.
Boss Brendan Rodgers has forced Suarez to train alone and
has demanded an apology before he’ll be welcomed back into the squad but the
striker is refusing to do so as he feels betrayed by his manager and the club
for what he believes is a breach of contract.
The Mirror claim the striker is determined to force a
move away from Anfield this summer and Arsenal are expected to go back in with
an improved third offer this week. Should that move fail to persuade Liverpool
into selling, the newspaper suggests that Suarez’s agent will try and arrange
talks with the Merseysiders on Friday where he’ll present legal documents that
they feel proves they have a case in their contract clause wrangle.
The report also claims that Suarez’s camp are sounding
out interest from abroad after Liverpool made it perfectly clear they do not
want to sell to Arsenal, so they think a move overseas will be easier to
engineer.
An obvious potential destination is Real Madrid but the
Spaniard’s appear focussed on their pursuit of Garth Bale and there has been no
talk of interest from elsewhere, so Arsenal remain the only viable option at
present.
It will be interesting to see how this saga plays out but
with less than three weeks left of the summer transfer window, Suarez is
running out of time to force a move away from Anfield.
