Sevilla have snapped up Uruguayan U-20 international
Sebastian Cristoforo from Penarol for a reported fee of €2.25m.
"I have arrived at a big club in Sevilla," the
19-year-old told the club's official website on Monday after putting pen to
paper on a five-year deal.
"This is a great opportunity for me, I am very happy
and I can't wait to start," Cristoforo added.
The midfielder becomes Sevilla's tenth signing of the
transfer window as they look to rebuild following the sales of Jesus Navas and
Alvaro Negredo to Manchester City. And Cristoforo will step into the role
vacated by another South American as Chilean international Gary Medel completed
his move to Premier League newcomers Cardiff City on Sunday.
However, Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido insisted
that the club would not be accepting any bids for France prodigy Geoffrey
Kondogbia and any interested parties will have to pay his €20m buyout clause to
land the 20-year-old.
