Roma captain Francesco Totti has stated his delight at
being with the Giallorossi for 20 years and revealed that he doesn’t plan on
playing anywhere else.
The 36-year-old, who’s currently on tour with the
Giallorossi in North America, received much love and respect from the Toronto
crowd during the Italian club’s friendly against Toronto FC this week, which
they won 4-1.
Totti spoke at a press conference in Washington DC on
Friday, where Roma are preparing for their next friendly against Chelsea over
the weekend, and commented on his experience in Toronto.
“It was a wonderful day and I really didn’t expect that
welcome,” said the Lupi veteran.
“The game with Chelsea will be prestigious and we want to
make a good impression.”
The Roma legend made his Serie A debut with the club as a
teenager in 1993 and admitted that his career with the team has been a great
one, while also mentioning his positive outlook on the upcoming season.
“It has been 20 years of love with the same jersey and I
think it was a great life experience. The MLS? It’d be very difficult, because
I have a contract with Roma and want to respect it. I am not thinking of other
teams or other leagues.
“I have been fortunate to play with many very important
players in my career. I can say that this season the squad is very united,
eager to have a great campaign and to show off the potential of every
individual.”
