Daniel Agger’s agent left the possibility of a move to
Barcelona very much open after Liverpool rejected an offer from the Spanish
champions.
The Denmark international has been linked with a transfer
to Camp Nou as the Catalan giants seek to bolster their defensive options.
The Reds have rejected an opening bid, believed to be in
the region of £15m, for their recently appointed vice-captain.
In a carefully worded statement, Agger’s agent Per
Steffensen put the ball very much in Liverpool’s court.
He said: “We are aware that Barcelona have made an offer
for Daniel that Liverpool have rejected.
“Daniel has a contract with Liverpool for the next three
years and it would be up to the clubs to agree a fee for his transfer in order
for that to change.”
So, Steffensen has stopped short of saying that Agger
wants to leave or would be delighted to join Barca, but has hinted that if the
clubs agree a fee then it’s pretty much a done deal.
