Vincent Enyeama earned praise from his coach and teammate
following an impressive debut in the French Ligue 1 with Lille.
Having been installed as the first choice goalkeeper by
manager Rene Girard, Enyeama started in Lille's opening league game of the
season at home to Lorient.
There were few chances created by either side in a match
decided by Belgian teenager Dovick Origi's line strike, but the Nigeria
goalkeeper was tested twice by efforts from Yann Joffre and Vincent Aboubakar.
Both times, he responded with aplomb.
"Regarding Vincent Enyeama, he only had two stops to
make and he did both very well. This is the mark of great goalkeepers,"
Girard said afterwards.
"Personally, I feel comfortable in the area."
Midfielder Florent Balmong also credited the Nigerian
number one.
"Vincent Enyeama? That is, in his first match, he
made the saves he needed. It was decisive, it is important to him and to
us."
